Maradu flat eviction to start on Sunday; Flat owners will get compensation, says chief secy
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Secretary Tom Jose said that the eviction procedures in Maradu flats will start from Sunday onwards. The government will provide compensation to the flat owners and later this amount will be levied from the flat builders, he said.
The chief secretary also made it clear that the action to attach the properties of the builders has already started. The government is taking action according to the Supreme Court order. Procedures will be moved according to the report submitted in the court, the chief secretary clarified.
The apex court had directed the other day to give Rs 25 lakh as interim compensation for the flat owners in Maradu within four weeks. The bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra had said that the government can levy the compensation amount from the flat builders. It also directed to freeze the account of the flat builders.
