Maradu flat demolition: Two down, two more to go on Sunday
Maradu: Two luxury apartment complexes, illegally built violating Coastal Regulation Zone norms, went to debris here on Saturday as per Supreme Court order. Two more complexes – Jain Coral Cove and Golden Kayaloram will meet same fate on Sunday when the buildings will be brought down by controlled implosions. Both the buildings are 17 storeys.
Jain Coral Cove will be brought down at 11 am on Sunday while Golden Kayaloram will be brought down at 2 pm.
Since the day o1 of the mission was successful, officials and authorities are confident of completing the procedures smoothly.
By 7 am, people will be asked to evacuate the zone and will be allowed back after the demolition of both buildings.
First siren will be sounded at 10. 30 am, second at 10.55 am and third at 10.59 am. With this Jain Coral Cove will meet ground. It will be brought down in a slanting way.
Golden Kayaloram will be imploded into two. The explosives have been filled in such a way. This is to avoid any damages to the nearby buildings and for the debris not to fall into the backwaters.
Traffic restrictions will be imposed since morning.
The two high rises--Holy Faith H2O and the twin towers of Alfa Serene Apartment--were demolished using controlled implosion method at 11.18 am and 11.46 am respectively.
Authorities expressed satisfaction over the drive on Saturday, saying the entire exercise of demolition was almost near perfect.
The 60-meter high 19 storey Holy Faith H2O was levelled in seconds in a spectacular implosion at 11.18 am.
However, some portion of the Alfa Serene twin towers, fell in the backwater.
