Maoists fire first shot during inquest; more visuals of Attappadi encounter released
Palakkad: Police have released more visuals of the encounter with Maoists in Attappadi forest region here. Visuals of gun fires during inquest procedures were released.
In the visuals, gun shots can be heard from forest before the inquest procedures. This confirms the claim of the police that Maoist leader Manivasagam had fired the gun first. Following this, Thunderbolt retaliated and the encounter lasted for more than one-and-half hours.
Meanwhile, police are examining the laptop and tablet seized from Maoists. It is expected that more information will be obtained from this.
The Palakkad district court had ordered not to cremate the bodies of the dead Maoists until Monday as per the petition filed by relatives of killed Maoists Manivasagan and Karthi.
The court will also consider their petitions demanding a probe into the encounter abiding to the Supreme Court guidelines on Saturday.
