Maoists carrying guns take out protest in Mananthavady


Seven Maoists carrying guns shouted slogans and later pasted posters in the area. Three among them were women.

Kalpetta: Maoists took out a protest march in broad daylight at Kambamala near Thalappuzha in Mananthavady on Saturday.

The Incident took place around 1.30 pm. Seven Maoists carrying guns shouted slogans and later pasted posters in the area. Three among them were women.

The posters warned that labourers at Kambamala were not from Sri Lanka and officials approaching them in connection with the National Population Register (NPR) will be physically dealt with.

The posters also mentioned that Maoists were in support of various protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) organised by different organisations. The posters were prepared by CPI (Maoist), Kabani.

Following the incident, Thunderbolt, police and forest departments initiated search operations in the area.
