Maoist encounter: 2 guns seized were captured from Odisha police station

Police said the two firearms, called .303 rifles, were captured by Maoists after they attacked a police station in Koraput in Odisha in 2004.

Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Saturday confirmed that two of the guns seized from Maoists killed during the encounter at Attappadi in Palakkad were captured from Odisha.

Police said the two firearms, called .303 rifles, were captured by Maoists after they attacked a police station in Koraput in Odisha in 2004. Investigations are on to identify the other guns seized from the Maoists.

The police had sent details of the weapons seized from Maoists to officials in other states. Based on information received in response, police confirmed that the two guns were captured from Odisha.
