Manu C Pulikkal in Aroor; LDF finalises bypoll candidates
Alappuzha: DYFI state vice president Manu C. Pulikkal is likely to be LDF’s assembly bypoll candidate for Aroor constituency. The CPM Alappuzha district secretariat has made a directive in this regard.
The state committee’s directive to give prominence to young and upcoming leaders catapulted Manu into being the bypoll candidate. The district secretariat’s decision will be submitted to the state committee with the approval of the regional committees.
Manu is also a member of the CPM Alappuzha district secretariat. Earlier C.B. Chandrababu and P.P. Chitharanjan were also considered along with Manu.
With this, the Left Democratic Front has decided its candidates for all the five assembly constituencies. Thiruvananthapuram mayor V.K Prasanth (Vattiyoorkavu), DYFI state vice president K.U. Janeesh Kumar (Konni), CPM district secretariat member C.H. Kunjambu (Manjeswaram) and independent candidate Advocate Manu Roy (Ernakulam) are the LDF candidates in the fray.
An official announcement in this regard is expected to be made on Friday. However, the UDF and BJP have not been able to finalise their respective candidates for the bypolls.
