Manorama murder case: Police fail to recover stolen jewellery, say robbery ended up in homicide

Thiruvananthapuram: In the murder case of Kesavadasapuram native Manorama, police informed that the accused Adam Ali killed the woman with an intention of robbery. Meanwhile, the probe team failed to recover the six sovereigns of jewellery which is reportedly robbed by the accused.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner informed that the accused is addicted to online game PUBG.

“The accused operated the crime as he had easy access to Manorama’s house. We assume that he murdered the woman during a robbery attempt. He stabbed her neck with a knife and strangulated her. After confirming her death, he dumped the body in a well of a deserted house,” said the commissioner.

Manorama (68), wife of Dinaraj was found dead on Sunday morning. Her body was recovered in a search conducted after she went missing from her house. The body was found in a well of an unoccupied house.

The probe team nabbed the accused Wes Bengal native Adam Ali from Chennai over the murder case. Police traced him after he also went missing soon after the murder. He was employed at a construction site near Manorama’s house.

The Medical College police traced him after arresting his four friends.

“ Adam Ali is in the custody of Thiruvananthapuram City Police. He will be taken for evidence collection after a detailed interrogation. More clarity is needed on the motive behind the murder,” informed the city police commissioner.
