Manoj Abraham steps down as Secretary as rift within IPS Association widens
Thiruvananthapuram: Amid growing discontent among IPS officers against the IPS Association leadership, IG Manoj Abraham resigned from the post of Secretary. He handed over the resignation letter to DGP Loknath Behera on Saturday.
Junior officers had twice requested convening of emergency meeting of the Association in the wake of remarks against IPS officers by former state police chief T P Senkumar. However, the leadership did not agree to their demand.
Manoj Abraham’s resignation comes after the officers mounted pressure on the leadership to call a meeting.
Senkumar, in his farewell speech, had alleged that there are criminals among the top IPS officers. There were voices of protests over his comments and the calls to convene a meeting came after that.
The IPS association is not yet registered under the Society Registration Act. The by-laws were prepared by a committee headed by ADGPs Tomin J Thachankary, S Anandakrishnan and S T Akbar.
