Mannarkkad native in custody for smuggling 2 kg gold hidden in bluetooth speaker


Malappuram: A passenger was taken into custody at Kozhikode International Airport for smuggling 2 kg of gold. Mannarkkad native Hakkim hid the gold in a Bluetooth speaker.

The gold was found while checking his baggage upon arrival on Monday morning. Customs officers found suspicious signals while scanning his baggage. They thoroughly checked and recovered the gold from the speaker.

Hakkim reportedly told the police that the perpetrators offered him Rs 70,000 and a flight ticket to smuggle gold to Kerala. The gold is estimated to cost Rs 1.11 crore.
