Thiruvananthapuram: As the crisis in NCP is intensifying over Pala seat for the upcoming Assembly election, even the intervention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan couldn’t resolve the issues.
The talks held between Pala MLA Mani C Kappan and Transport Minister AK Saseendran gained no positive result as the former stood firm on not giving up the Pala seat while latter was of the opinion that there is no need for a stubborn stance over one seat.
The 30-minute discussion was held as instructed by the Chief Minister. NCP state president TP Pithambaran and others had indicated the crisis within the party. Following this, CM intervened in the issue.
Mani C Kappan is not ready for any consensus by giving up the Pala seat.
Kerala Congress Jose K Mani faction, when joining the LDF, had raised claim on the Pala seat. CPM didn’t oppose this demand then. NCP leaders including Peethambaran believe that this was an injustice to them. If no compromise is reached on Pala seat, there could be strong retaliations including switching fronts.
NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar also has intervened in the matter. Peethamabaran had stated the other day that everyone will have to accept the decision taken by the national leadership.
