Mani again in UDF, RS candidate to be announced soon
Thiruvananthapuram: Mani returns to UDF from Kerala Congress after an interval of 2 years. The party chairman K M Mani said in a press conference that joining with Congress is necessary to reinforce and strengthen secularism in the country.
The candidate for the RS seat will be announced today. But, he opined that he is not becoming a part of Rajya Sabha and also doesn’t prefer Jose K Mani as the candidate. He revealed his stand about the RS candidature after the one-hour parliamentary party meet. The candidate will be decided today after the party leadership meet.
Mani left the UDF in August 2016 in connection with the allegation of Bar Scam. But, he again became close to the UDF after the Chengannur by-election. Though the return of Mani to UDF was a hot topic of discussion, the Congress ensured the entry of Kerala Congress to UDF by offering their RS seat to Mani.
Mani left the front by alleging that some people in the congress leadership were the enemies of Kerala Congress and that he has lost patience with them. But, he returned to the front as the Congress decided to offer the RS seat even without the knowledge of their leaders.
