Man, woman taken in custody suspecting terror links, found innocent: Police
Kochi: A man and a woman who were taken in custody on Saturday with suspected terror links were let off after they were found to be innocent, said police. Kodungallur native Rahim Abdul Khader and Sulthan Bathery native woman were questioned by investigating agencies including NIA from Saturday till 7 pm on Sunday. However, they agencies failed to establish any links with terror outfits.
Rahim was taken in custody when he was brought to court yesterday. It is known that after 24 hours of custody he was found to be innocent. Apart from NIA, Crime Branch and Tamil Nadu ‘Q’ Branch also had questioned them.
Meanwhile relatives are suspecting some kind of personal revenge behind the incident.
Rahim and the woman were taken in custody after Intel report said of possible terrorist infiltration to Tamil Nadu. Intelligence report said that the six-member LeT team, one Pakistani and five Sri Lankans, reached Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka via sea.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Rahim and his close aid woman had links with these LeT members.
Rahim had told media that he was innocent and someone with vested interests had misinformed the police.
Though Rahim had denied all allegations and claimed innocence, police took him into custody for detailed interrogation.
