Pathanamthitta: A man who is named as an accused in several criminal cases was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a waterlogged area at Pandalam here on Saturday. The deceased is identified as Motta Varghese, a criminal who has been booked in burglary and Abkari cases.
He was found dead in the waterlogged area on Saturday morning. Later, the police identified the body as that of Motta Varghese. The police also found bruise marks on the body. Further, alcohol bottles were also found on the premises.
According to police, Varghese had altercations with some locals during a church festival. It is suspected that this might have some links to his death. The police are collecting evidence from the scene.
