Man who walked along railway tracks from Madurai held at Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested a man who walked along the railway track all the way to the railway station here from Madurai in Tamil Nadu on foot amid the nationwide lockdown.
The RPF arrested Prasad (68) of Kanakapalayam in Erumeli from near the Thiruvananthapuram railway station and handed him over to the health department officials.
Prasad was returning after visiting the Rameswaram temple. Prasad told police that he started walking along the track from Manamadurai on March 14.
Prasad used to stay at temples near the tracks and survived on food and water provided by residents living near the tracks.
After reaching Thiruvananthapuram, Prasad started walking towards Kottayam. Police officer M. T. Joseph, who was on station duty noticed Prasad and stopped him. Prasad claimed he was a monk and used to visit temples frequently.
As he was coming from another state, the RPF sought help of the health department.
