Man who reached Walayar tests positive: 5 Congress MLAs, MPs asked to self quarantine
Palakkad: Congress MLAs and MPs who staged a protest over restricting Keralites entering into the state from state borders were asked to observe quarantine for 14 days. It is reported that the health department directed the leaders to remain in quarantine after a Malappuram native who returned from Walayar turned positive for COVID-19.
MP VK Sreekandan, MP Ramya Haridas, MP TN Prathapan, MLA Shafi Parambil and MLA Anil Akkara are the five leaders who were directed to remain in quarantine after observing the chances of contact with the infected.
At the same time, over 400 people, including five police officials in DySP rank, Coimbatore RDO, 50 journalists and 100 police officials are being quarantined.
Responding to the direction to observe quarantine, the Congress leaders raised a sharp criticism against the LDF government.
“We interacted with the people from Walayar maintaining social distancing. The CPM is taking political revenge on us by placing us under quarantine,” said the Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, MP VK Sreekandan and MLA Shafi Parambil reported that they are ready to put themselves under self-quarantine.
