Meppadi (Wayanad): A man who lost his house in the flood havoc last year committed suicide here. The deceased was identified as Wayanad Meppadi native Sanal.
Sanal’s house was located on a poramboke land. So, he did not have any documents to claim ownership. The housing schemes like LIFE had included only those who have proper documents in the first phase.
The panchayat authorities made it clear that Sanal was included in the list of eligible persons in the second phase of LIFE scheme. They had informed Sanal regarding this. But later, he was found hanging in a temporary shelter on Monday.
Meppadi panchayat stated that Sanal could not be given house in the first phase of the scheme due to technical issues.
