Thiruvananthapuram: The man who hacked a woman to death in broad daylight at Vazhayila has hanged himself in jail. The accused, Rajesh, who was lodged in Poojappura district jail, committed suicide at around 2 am on Sunday.
According to the authorities, he hanged himself inside the washroom using the dhoti he was wearing. He was taken to the general hospital but could not be saved.
On Thursday, Vazhayila native Sindhu (50) was killed by Rajesh, who had been living with her. Rajesh, a Pathanamthitta native, had left his wife and children to live with Sindhu in Thiruvananthapuram.
However, clashes broke out between the two and he accused Sindhu of attempting to embezzle his savings and property. He had then shifted to another house nearby.
According to the police, the skirmishes between Rajesh and Sindhu led to the murder.
