Man who consumed liquor found on roadside dies in Adimali

Idukki: A man who had been undergoing treatment after consuming alcohol found lying on the roadside in Adimali died on Thursday here. The deceased has been identified as Kunjumon (40), a native of Apsarakunnu.

Kunjumon consumed the liquor with his friends Anu (38) and Manoj (26). Both of them are currently undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College.

The incident took place on January 8 near Apsarakunnu in Adimali. It was found earlier that the liquor they drank contained pesticide residues.

The liquor bottle was found lying on the roadside by one of Manoj’s friends. He later handed the bottle to Manoj and others.

Three of them, who felt discomfort after drinking the alcohol, sought treatment at the medical college hospital. However, Kunjumon’s condition worsened and was shifted to the intensive care unit.

Police have launched a probe into the incident. Following this, the person who found the bottle and handed it over to the deceased was taken into custody.
