Man tests COVID +ve at Ernakulam Indira Gandhi hospital; staff put under quarantine
Kochi: 15 staff at the Indira Gandhi Co-operative hospital in Kadavanthra here have been placed under quarantine after a man who had sought treatment two days back, tested positive for COVID-19. The patient has been admitted to Kalamassery medical college.
He had been staying in an apartment at Kadavanthra. Everyone who had close contact with him have been placed in quarantine.
A few days back, 72 staff at the district hospital were placed under quarantine after a woman under treatment for pneumonia tested COVID positive. The antigen tests for the staff is underway. Minister VS Sunil Kumar had said that samples of 25 of them tested negative and the results of others are awaited.
The Cortina Hospital where she had sought treatment earlier was closed down.
Meanwhile, strict restrictions have been imposed in the district with surge in COVID patients. Antigen tests will be done on everyone who are returning from abroad. The number of test counters at the airport have been increased in view of this. Also the inspections and regulations in the district have been tightened.
