Konni: In an unusual incident, a labourer who went to dig a well after talking about death, died hours later on Friday. The deceased has been identified as TK Rajan (54), a native of Pramadam.

The incident took place around 11 am at the house of Thengumkavu native Sumesh. Rajan and another labourer Krishnankutty had been digging a well on the premises.

After seeing water inside the well, the duo went up and ate breakfast around 9.30 am. At the time, Rajan reportedly talked about death and said local residents will help him at the time of his death.

Following this, Rajan went back to work and later sat at the bottom of the well saying he felt exhausted. Meanwhile, Krishnankutty tried to get him out of the well but failed.

Soon after, a fire brigade unit from Pathanamthitta arrived at the spot, rescued Rajan and gave him first aid. He was later shifted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital but could not be saved.

He is survived by his wife Mallika, daughters Raji, Rakhi, Revathy and sons-in-law Soman, Manu and Rajesh.

The body is currently kept at the mortuary in Pathanamthitta General Hospital. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 pm.
