Mangaluru: Customs officials nabbed a man who attempted to smuggle gold using his two-year-old child. The officials seized 1.350 kilogram of gold in the form of glue from the child’s diaper and also from the body of the accused.
Kasaragod native arrived at Mangaluru from Dubai with his 21-month-old child. The gold hidden in the diaper was spotted during scanning. Later, the officials found gold from the father’s body also while interrogating him.
According to the officials, the seized gold will cost Rs 76 lakh. The officials refrained from revealing further details regarding the accused as a child was involved in the case.
Meanwhile, Customs seized 1606 grams of gold from Mangaluru International Airport in two other incidents.
