Thiruvananthapuram: A woman was hacked to death by her son-in-law in Aruvikkara on Thursday. The deceased is Thahira, an Azhikode native.
The incident happened at 4:30 am. According to police, son-in-law Ali Akbar and his wife Mumthas have been having marital issues for the past ten years. However, both resided in the same house despite battling a case against each other in the family court.
Police suspect that these differences prompted Ali Akbar to murder Thahira. After attacking her, Ali Akbar also hacked his wife. Following this, he tried to set himself on fire after pouring kerosene over his body. Though all three were rushed to the hospital, Thahira succumbed to her injuries.
