Thiruvananthapuram: A man created a stir at the Venganoor Grama Panchayat office by brandishing an air gun and stopping staff from leaving the Panchayat compound.

The incident happened at around 11 am on Monday. The man arrived at the office holding a placard protesting against the inefficiency of panchayat and village officers to let farmers, including him, use canal water in the area.

Murugan, a Venganoor native, shut the office gate and prohibited staff from leaving the premises. As a result, no one was able to leave or enter the office for hours. The man alleged that he resorted to the protest due to indecision from the concerned authorities.

Later, the Balaramapuram police arrived at the spot and took Murugan into custody. The air gun was seized from him.
