Man nabbed for swindling lakhs by promising job in MVD

Kakkanad: The Infopark police on Thursday nabbed the key accused in a fraud case for allegedly swindling money after promising a job in the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD).

The accused has been identified as Suresh Kumar, a resident of Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. He allegedly swindled Rs 5,75,000 from a youth after promising him the job of assistant vehicle inspector in MVD.

Suresh was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Sarath, who had passed the PSC written exam to the post, but failed to clear the medical test.

Reportedly, Suresh and his accomplice Deepak, who introduced themselves as PSC officials, had swindled money from the complainant several times. Deepak was arrested in October 2022.

According to the police, Suresh is an accused in various theft, kidnapping and cheating cases registered at Thiruvananthapuram Museum, Thampanoor, Medical College and Poojappura police stations.

Another accused Gopakumaran is currently on the run.
