Kozhikode: Jinaf (32), who was apprehended for the sexual assault and abandonment of an undergraduate student on Thamarassery Ghat Road last Thursday, is also implicated in a murder case in Kozhikode.
According to police, Kalpetta native Jinaf is the seventh accused in a case registered over the kidnapping and murder of Irshad, a Pandhikara native, by a gold smuggling gang. Irshad was found dead at Kodikal Beach in Thikkodi. However, post mortem report concluded that Irshad's cause of death was drowning.
On Tuesday, police took Irshad into custody for sexually assaulting the college student after drugging her. It was also found that the girl was taken to multiple locations and sexually assaulted. He was taken into custody while hiding in Tamil Nadu.
According to the girl, the accused befriended her and took her in a car to Ernakulam. He later sexually assaulted her before dumping her on the side of Thamarassery Ghat Road. Later, the family filed a missing case, and subsequent investigation aided the police in finding the girl.
