Johny, Saji
Thiruvananthapuram: Police arrested the key accused, who thrashed a man with a beer bottle for questioning liquor consumption in public. Panayaravilakam native R Saji (44) lost vision on his left eye in the attack. The accused Maranalloor native R Johny (26) was produced in the court and remanded.
The incident happened on Christmas day at around 10.30 am in Kattuvilakam. Johny attacked Saji when the latter asked him not to consume alcohol in a public place. Saji was shoved to the ground and stamped several times. Later, Johny hit Saji with a beer bottle and inflicted severe injuries on his left eye. Though two surgeries were conducted, his vision could not be restored.
Police informed that the accused has confessed to the offence and several other similar cases currently prevail against the accused.
