Man injured in road accident dies of bleeding after police refuse help
Kottayam: A complaint has arisen that the police did not help a person who was seriously injured in a road accident at Vempally here. Following this, the person succumbed to injuries due to delay in getting medical help. The deceased was identified as Rony Jo. After the police vehicle came to the spot, it took more than half an hour to take him to hospital.
The incident took place on Sunday evening at Vempally near Kuravilangad. When Kuravilangad native Rony Jo and son Philip were travelling on a bike, another vehicle hit them and both fell on the road. At this time, a vehicle from Thrissur AR Camp came by this way, but they refused to take the injured to hospital.
With this, injured Rony Jo had to lie on the road for half an hour. He was heavily bleeding. Later, he was shifted to hospital but his life could not be saved. Though the locals requested the police to take the injured in their vehicle, they refused.
The police vehicle was going to drop a police officer from Karukachal after his farewell. It is alleged that Rony Jo could have been saved if he was taken to hospital in the police vehicle immediately.
