Man hacked to death by cousin in Kollam

Oyur (Kollam): A man was hacked to death by his neighbour in Kollam on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Thilajan(48).

The incident happened around 9:30 pm. Pooyapilly police have booked a case against Sethu, cousin of the deceased.

It is learned that the accused is absconding. Sethu and Thilajan were not on good terms for quite some time. Police suspect that this hatred might have led to the murder.

Thilajan was attacked on a public road. According to police, the accused severed the hands of Thilajan before hacking him to death inside a margin free market. Thilajan tried to escape after his hand was severed. The police said that the accused followed him and hacked him. He was pronounced dead by the time the police shifted him to Parapally Medical College.

There was a dispute between the accused and Thilajan and frequent brawls transpired between them. Thilajan's relatives were also attacked by the accused shortly after this. Jalajan, brother of Thilajan, was attacked similarly six months ago. In retaliation, Thilajan and his relatives hired a quotation gang and assaulted Sethu at his house.
