Kottayam: A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a pump house in Polachira region of Thiruvanchoor here.
The deceased has been identified as Shaiju (46), a resident of Thiruvanchoor involved in wall painting works.
The body was spotted by the locals on Sunday morning. They intimated the matter to the police. The officials arrived at the spot and examined the area. Several wounds were found on the deceased's body.
Police suspect murder angle to the incident. According to reports, the Ayarkunnam police have taken Shaiju’s friend into custody in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, reports stated that Shaiju’s friend killed him by smashing a helmet on his head. However, the police have not commented on those reports.
The body will be shifted to Kottayam Medical College after the inquest procedures.
