Kalpetta: A man fell 50 feet down from the view point of the Thamarassery ghat while trying to retrieve a key that a monkey snatched from him. Malappuram native Ayamu (40) fell from the view point at around 5:45 pm on Saturday.

The monkey snatched the key from Ayamu and dropped it while he was standing at the view point. Ayamu crossed the railing at the view point and went down to retrieve the key. He, however, slipped and fell about 50 feet while returning, according to eyewitnesses.

Fire force reached the spot and rescued him. Ayamu was lying among the trees when the fire force went down to rescue him. He suffered a minor injury to his leg in the fall. A team headed by Wayanad district fire officer Moosa Vadakkethil carried out the rescue mission.
