Man ends life after failing to repay loan from Karuvannur Cooperative Bank
Thrissur: Amid controversies over the massive fraud worth Rs 300 cr at Karuvannur Cooperative Bank, a man, who had reportedly taken loan from the bank, committed suicide.
Former panchayat member P M Mukundan (63), a resident of Thelappally, had received a revenue recovery notice a few days ago. However, he was unable to repay the loan. Mukundan was found dead at his house on Thursday morning.
His relatives alleged that Mukundan had taken a loan of Rs 25 lakhs. However, he was asked to repay Rs 80 lakhs. Mukundan was under depression owing to the relentless torture of bank officials. The bank collapsed owing to the huge financial irregularities. This ended up sending recovery notices to all who failed to repay loans.
