Vythiri: A man has been booked by the police under the Hospital Protection Act 2012 after causing a commotion while demanding to be examined by a female doctor in the Outpatient (OP) section of Vythiri Taluk Hospital.
Lakkidi native Velayudhan (57) created commotion at the OP section of the hospital and abused the lady doctor on duty there.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon. He came to the OP section and demanded that he need to be treated by a lady doctor. He also refused to take the 'OP chit' and threatened the hospital staff when asked to wait outside. As a result, the services in the OP block was halted temporarily.
Eventually, the hospital staff managed to convince him to leave the place. However, he returned to the casualty section with his wife later. The staff in casualty was unaware of the chaos he created at the OP block and admitted him. He sought treatment claiming that he was having chest pain.
After learning about his identity, using his name and address provided at casualty, the hospital authorities filed a complaint before the police. Meanwhile, the hospital has referred him to Government Mental Health Centre at Kuthiravattam for further treatment. Authorities alleged that he was in an inebriated condition when he created ruckus at the hospital.
