Drugs seized at Kochi sirport

Kochi: Muralidharan Nair from Palakkad who was arrested with metha quinol drug from Kochi airport is believed to have smuggled drugs before. It was found that the accused has travelled to Zimbabwe five times before but he claims that it was for business purposes.

He acquired the drugs from Harare and was instructed to deliver it to Delhi. A Nigerian woman involved in the smuggling was nabbed from Delhi as soon as Muralidharan was nabbed by customs officers from Kochi airport. Muralidharan’s reward for smuggling drugs to Delhi was Rs 2 lakh and ticket expenses. The drugs that weren’t found during the security check at Zimbabwe and Doha were detected during inspection at CIAL.

The officials of the Customs and Narcotic departments informed that the seized drug was worth Rs 60 crore in the international market. The drugs hidden in the secret pocket of the bag were found during the security check using 3D MRA scanning at CIAL. The accused was handed over to the Narcotic department and the drug was sent to a laboratory for further examination.
