Isuddin, Gold seized from him
Karipur: Police seized over one and a half kilogram of gold mixture, which was smuggled by smearing onto the trouser, from a Kannur native who landed at Karipur International Airport from Abu Dhabi. The accused Isuddin (43) was taken under custody on Saturday at around 10.15 am.
Isuddin was arrested following the confidential information received by Malappuram district police chief Sujith Das IPS regarding the smuggling of gold from Abu Dhabi via IndiGo flight.
In the primary quizzing, Isuddin denied that he carried gold with him. Though his bag and himself were examined, police could not find the gold. Later, the police noticed his heavy trouser and asked him to take it off. When the investigation team tore it and examined it, they found a mixture of gold smeared onto a layer of cloth.
