Pathanamthitta: Keezhvaipur police booked a man who barged into a house and killed an elderly woman in Kunnamthanam on Tuesday at around 7.30 am. Pradeepan alias Ayyappan stabbed Vijayamma (62) several times with a broken beer bottle and a knife.
Though Vijayamma, who went unconscious due to heavy bleeding, was taken to a private hospital in Thiruvalla, she could not be saved.
The locals claimed that the accused was intoxicated with drugs and behaved as mentally insane. Before killing Vijayamma, the accused had attacked many others, informed the police.
Following the murder of Vijayamma, the accused escaped from the crime spot and assaulted an eight-year-old child. Soon he was caught by the cops and locals together.
