According to the police, Biju was against his sister visiting their house frequently. On the day of the incident, Biju’s sister came home and a provoked Biju got into an argument with his mother.

Kottayam: Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly kicking his 80-year-old mother to death following a family dispute. The accused has been identified as Biju (52), native of Panachikkad.

The victim is Sathi (80) of Thekkekuttu House. She succumbed to her injuries on November 23 while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Biju had told the hospital authorities that his mother fell down and got injured. However, as Sathi’s body was brought home for cremation, the locals, out of suspicion, informed the police.

Following this, the body was sent to Kottayam Medical College for post mortem and injuries were found on Sathi’s chest, face and spine.

Soon after, the police took Biju into custody and he confessed about kicking his mother.

The accused, who was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate, has been remanded for 14 days.
