Dombivli (Mumbai): In an unfortunate incident, two siblings from Kerala, were found dead in a pond in Mumbai on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Haripad natives Ranjith Raveendran (22) and Keerthy Raveendran (17), residents of East Anantam Regency Complex in Dombivli, Mumbai.

Eyewitnesses recount the tragic incident where the siblings' pet dog ventured into the deeper end of the pond while they were bathing it. In an attempt to rescue the animal, Ranjith found himself struggling and began to drown. Witnessing her brother's distress, Keerthy attempted to save him, but tragically, both siblings drowned, according to the eyewitnesses.

The duo’s parents, Raveendran and Deepa, were not home at the time of the tragedy. They had reportedly gone to their hometown. The bodies were fished out by fire brigade officials and Manpada police and later sent for autopsy.

Ranjith is a house surgeon at Seawood Hospital, Navi Mumbai. Keerthy had passed the Class 11 HSC board exams the other day.

After the post mortem procedures, the bodies will be brought to Kerala for funeral, said PK Lali, the deceased’s relative and social worker.
