Kovalam: A Malayali couple died in a horrific car accident in Belgaum in Karnataka. Binu Rajayan (44) and Sheena (38), a couple hailing from Venganoor, were killed and their children Naveen (17) and Nimisha (14) sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital by the police. Binu and family were on their way to spend their vacation in their house in Muttakkad.

The accident occurred by noon on Sunday near the Shankeshwar Police Station limit. According to the police, the Binu applied sudden brakes to stop from ramming into a bike coming in the opposite direction, following which it lost control and flipped over. The left side of the car was completely damaged in the accident. Binu died on spot. Sheena, who was admitted to Civil Hospital in Belgaum with grave injuries, succumbed on Monday night.

The family has been living near Nerul Railway Station in Mumbai for 20 years. Binu was a driver working for a private company. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem, taken to their home by Tuesday evening and cremated.
