Kochi: Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) said that OTT and theatrical releases will go hand in hand. The movies taken for theatre release must be screened in theatres and others will be screened on OTTs. FEFKA clarified that they are not against OTT movies and they also requested to register such movies in the Producer’s association to protect the interest of the movie workers.
The organisers also informed that owing to the Covid situation, the salary agreements of the workers in the film industry have been extended for six more months. FEFKA General Secretary B Unnikrishnan said that women can work in 19 unions of FEFKA and that they must be brought into the scene. A camp will be held in Ernakulam in collaboration with the Kerala State Women's Development Corporation Limited to bring about awareness about the job opportunities awaiting women in the cinema field.
Unnikrishnan said that he welcomes Congress stand that strikes must be avoided in shooting locations. He added that he had not tried to settle the matter. The association passed a resolution against the alienation of B Unnikrishnan over this matter. Vice President S N Swamy, Joint Secretary Sumangala Sunil, Working Secretary Sohan Seenulal, and Treasurer R H Satheesh attended the press conference.
