Malayalam novelist Subhash Chandran bags Padmaprabha Literary Award

Kalpetta: Noted short story writer and novelist Subhash Chandran has been chosen for this year's prestigious Padmaprabha literary prize instituted by the Padmaprabha Memorial Trust.

The award consists of Rs 75,000 cash prize, a 'gem' (Padmaragam (Ruby)) studded plaque and a citation.

Padma Prabha Trust Chairman MV Shreyams Kumar informed that the winner was selected by an award committee comprising novelist Zakaria, Sarah Joseph, and CV Balakrishnan. The committee noted that Subash has been restructuring post-modern Malayalam short stories and novels with his fresh inputs. His works like Manushyanu Oru Aamukham and Samudrashila were specifically highlighted by the committee.

Subhash Chandran, the two-time recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, is the assistant editor of Mathrubhumi weekly. Other notable works are Ghatikarangal Nilakkunna Samayam, Parudeesa Nashtam, Vihitham and Das Capital - Memoirs.
