Malappuram: A woman who attempted to end her life at her husband’s house nearly one week ago died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Malappuram. The deceased has been identified as Safana, a native of Vettichira.

According to the deceased’s family, torture from her husband and his family forced her to take a severe measure. Police have taken into custody her husband Arshad Ali over the family’s complaint.

Safana attempted to end her life on February 4. The attempt occurred after Arshad allegedly rebuked her. The couple’s 1.5-year-old child peed on Arshad and he allegedly beat her over that, said family members.

According to Safana’s family, Arshad and his family had been mistreating her over dowry and other issues.
