Malappuram POCSO case: More students raise complaint, teacher arrested

Malappuram: Former school teacher and CPM Municipal councillor KV Sasikumar was arrested over a POCSO case based on the complaints lodged by around 50 students. According to the complaint, he sexually assaulted numerous students while teaching at a school in Malappuram.

Earlier, Sasikumar relinquished his ward membership after the former students' forum lodged a complaint to the office of the District Police Superintendent, Women's Commission, and Human Rights Commission. Meanwhile, CPM revoked his CPM branch membership.

Student unions also staged a protest demanding his arrest across the district. Amidst this, police took him into custody from Wayanad. According to the police, his arrest will be recorded after questioning him.

He retired from the post of Mathematics teacher in March. The photos of the farewell event conducted on the day were shared on social media. Following this, a former student levelled sexual harassment allegations against him. The student shared the photo and described the incident. Following this, many female students came forward with sexual assault allegations against Sasikumar .

Based on the complaints, he was charged under the POCSO act. He was a mathematics teacher at Malappuram St. Gemmas Girls Higher Secondary School. He absconded after many students came forward with similar allegations against him.
