'Ente Veedu' Project under K Chittilappilly Foundation-Mathrubhumi: Malappuram family gets new house

House built for Raseena and Rafeeq

Kottakkal: Cheenumputhoor couple Raseena and Rafeeq who are staying at a rented apartment here feels relieved as their dream of a shelter of their own has become true. On Saturday, the couple along with their children will shift to their new house at Madrasumpadi-Maravattam road here. K Chittilappilly Foundation and Mathrubhumi constructed the house for the couple as part of the 'Ente Veedu' project. The house was built at the three-cent plot donated by charity worker Nasarmanu.

Rafeeq who is paraplegic has been earning daily bread for the family by selling tea and lottery on his specially-equipped three-wheeler. He was overwhelmed when he came to know that they are going to have their own house. His wife Raseena expressed her happiness and thanked all who joined hands to fulfil their dream.

MLA KK Abid Hussain Thangal, municipal chairperson Bushra Shabeer, Mathrubhumi VP (Operations) MS Devika were present during the key handing-over ceremony.

The 550 sqft house has two bedrooms, a hall, kitchen, toilet and a sit-out. This is the first house handed over to the prospective beneficiaries of the 'Ente Veedu' mission in Malappuram district.

The vision of K Chittilappilly Foundation and Mathrubhumi is to build houses for 1,000 deserving families selected from different districts.

A total of 13 beneficiaries were selected and Rs 52 lakhs was granted for the first phase of the project. Rs 4 lakh will be distributed to the beneficiaries for house construction.
