Malankara church dispute: CM holding discussions with church leaderships
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is holding discussions with church leaderships to find a solution to the Malankara church dispute. The Jacobite faction has demanded the CM to conduct voting at all churches.
The CM is directly holding discussions with the church leaderships to solve the century-old dispute at the Malankara church. The Supreme Court had ordered the state government to take over the churches and hand it over to the Orthodox faction. However, representatives of the Jacobite faction demanded that a decision should be taken only based on the majority opinion of the devotees.
Representatives of the Jacobite faction said that the discussion was peaceful. They hoped that the CM would be able to solve the matter in a fair manner.
Meanwhile, the CM will hold discussions with the Orthodox faction later. The Orthodox faction has taken a stance that any discussion should be based on the apex court order. They also wanted the government to go back from bringing an ordinance.
Earlier, the government had informed both the Jacobite and Orthodox factions that it will bring an ordinance if the dispute cannot be solved through discussions.
