Malabar cements scam: HC rejects plea seeking CBI inquiry
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has rejected the plea seeking CBI inquiry into a case related to irregularities in Malabar cements. The court rejected the plea seeking CBI inquiry into the cases that are being probed by Vigilance.
Velayudhan, father of deceased Saseendran and Joy Kaitharam, submitted the plea in the court.
Earlier, a single bench in the High Court had rejected the plea seeking the same. In this situation, the division bench of High Court pronounced that Vigilance will probe into the case and there is no need of a CBI inquiry.
CBI had found 36 documents in its probe on Saseendran case, which were not found in Vigilance probe. Referring to this, a plea was moved seeking CBI probe into the other cases related to irregularities in Malabar cements.
However, the Division Bench has quashed the plea noting that it is not a solid reason to demand CBI probe.
Vigilance is probing the corruption cases in Malabar cements in which industrialist VM Radhakrishnan and former officials are booked. The plea was moved in the high court seeking CBI probe into these cases.
