Mannarkkad: Two witnesses gave statements in favour of the prosecution in the Attapadi Madhu murder case. The statements of 117th witness Kodungallur DySP NS Saleesh and the nodal officer of a private cellular company Surya were heard on Tuesday. Saleesh was the inspector of Agali station when Madhu was allegedly beaten to death by a mob on February 22, 2018.
Saleesh said that the then Additional SI Prasad Varkey had informed him that a thief named Madhu was taken under custody and would be brought to Mukkala soon. However, Madhu died in the police vehicle between 4.30 pm and 5.15 pm.
Surya’s statements were heard instead of the 75th witness, who is also the nodal officer, Rajesh. His statements were also in favour of the prosecution.
The court considered the petition seeking to produce the investigation report prepared by collector Geromic George and Mannarkkad judicial first class magistrate. The pending decision regarding this will be delivered on Wednesday.
