Madhu's Mother
Palakkad: The special prosecutor in the Madhu murder case resigned on Saturday citing personal reasons. Following the resignation of C Rajendran, current additional prosecutor Adv Rajesh M Menon has been appointed as the special prosecutor in the case.
The family of Madhu had filed a petition in the trial court seeking to shift the government-appointed special prosecutor C Rajendran. It was following the demand of Madhu’s family that the government had appointed the same prosecutor in the case. C Rajendran had appeared before the High Court in the Walayar minor sisters’ death case seeking CBI investigation, which was soon granted by the High Court.
However, when the trial of the tribal youth’s lynching case began on June 8 following Rajendran’s appointment as the special prosecutor, two of the major witnesses turned hostile and this urged the family to approach the HC again seeking to change the special prosecutor. The family had submitted complaints to the chief secretary and director general of prosecution requesting to accede to their demand.
