M Sivasankar to retire on January 31

Former Principal Secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and now Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, M. Sivasankar will retire on January 31.

Sivasankar who earned his IAS in 1995 rose to top posts in the government on the back of his efficiency. However, he was in the middle of issues over allegations in Sprinklr deal, LIFE Mission and Gold Smuggling case during the Pinarayi Vijayan regime I. He even had to face a lawsuit and jail term.

He has worked closely with Pinarayi Vijayan and is deemed as the latter’s close aide.

Interestingly, as per the date of birth in the official records, his tenure got ended on Tuesday but was allowed to continue in service till January 31.

Meanwhile, the state government on Tuesday transferred the secretary of Water Resources department Pranabjyoti Nath IAS and posted him as Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department to replace Sivasankar.
