Kumily: A day after refusing to comment on a report that sought a judicial probe into the cause of floods, Minister for electricity M M Mani criticized the amicus curiae on Friday.
The minister alleged that the amicus curiae was playing politics and that he was a supporter of the former UPA government. Mani further alleged that the amicus curiae leaked the report to the media.
On Thursday, the 49-page explanatory report submitted by Jacob P Alex at the high court stated that dams were opened without abiding by the criteria. It demanded a judicial probe to find if opening of the dams without considering the guidelines and issuing warnings, had caused the disaster.
Many dams attained full capacity quickly as more water had flown towards it. The report clarified that the state government hadn’t seriously consider the warning of Met department and didn’t take much precautions to face the rain.
Many pleas were submitted at the high court showing that the state government failed to manage the flood. Following this, the court had appointed the amicus curiae.
