Sreekumar who escaped from accident
Chavara (Kollam): The lucky man who miraculously escaped from a mishap on the national highway on Friday morning was finally identified. Menampally native Sreekumar (52) had a narrow escape when a speeding vehicle passed by his left side while he was walking on the roadside.
The visuals of the incident was later found in a CCTV camera near Thattassery in Chavara and it went viral on social media. After this, everyone were trying to find the man. A construction worker, Sreekumar came from Tamil Nadu years ago and settled in Chavara.
On Friday morning at 6, Sreekumar reached Nallezhuthu junction on his relative's bike and was walking to a house in Thattassery for work. Meanwhile, an overspeeding pickup van came from behind Sreekumar moving off the road and passed close to him through the parking area of a hotel. Sreekumar was unaware of the incident when the vehicle passed.
After this, the van rammed into a pillar which carried a CCTV camera nearby and got back on the road. It was only then Sreekumar realised he just escaped from a mishap. He stopped for a while and prayed to god. These visuals later went viral on social media.
Sreekumar and family said that it was the invisible presence of god which saved him from the accident. Sreekumar's wife Thara, son Akhil Kumar, daughter Aswathi and daughter-in-law Reshma also said that the intensity of the mishap was realised only after watching the video.
The overspeeding vehicle was carrying milk. The driver fell asleep and lost control of the van when the incident occurred. The police gave the vehicle back to its owner after he promised to repair the CCTV camera which was damaged following the collision.
